“Man is by nature a social animal; an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human. Society is something that precedes the individual. Anyone who either cannot lead the common life or is so self-sufficient as not to need to, and therefore does not partake of society, is either a beast or a god. ” - Aristotle
So, Aristotle - you've read the significance of numbers in the Bible, have you? Read about the significance of the number 6 that denotes 'beast' or 'man' working against the will of God.
Aristotle died in 322 BC. The Old Testament dates back to 538 BC.
My argument with Newton continues. He said, "Plato is my friend — Aristotle is my friend — but my greatest friend is truth." Being a theologian, I believe Newton you would have already read the Bible and considered the significance of numbers in it too. Why would you still deem Aristotle as your friend, really? What has he helped you see? At one end you talk about standing on shoulders on giants and then being able to see further and then you don't deem the Bible (Revelations) to be a giant authority in itself. Instead you befriend Aristotle and see through his eyes, while speculating on his observations and using very little of the gigantic mind that you were gifted with. Maybe it was your inability to recognize truth in the first instance that brought you closer to Aristotle. I conclude today, the beginning to all true science and discovery is in revelation of the holy scripture(s).
