Every day I watch a ticker,
Go past the numbers,
Galloping through people,
As though to find its next state in motion,
And I'm left with one question,
Where can I find myself safe,
Watching the ticker daily go past the number,
So to see it motionless in dead slumber.
Every day I watch the ticker,
Telling tales of people who did no wrong,
Just God's play in motion,
As though to punish mankind,
For too much social proximity.
And too much evil spun through the ages,
Now that social distancing is the right way,
We're sure to part ways except that in the digital day,
You and I can still exchange messages,
Until of course the ticker calls and we fall prey.
Adding one for me,
And perhaps ten more for the places and remains I touch,
Untouchability is a great sin they say,
Now to repeat in God's mysterious way,
I can only watch and pray,
As COVID 19 is here to stay,
Despite my prayers and humble efforts,
To save the day and make for a better way,
Corona doesn't only kill,
It changes the social convention,
Somewhere the message is loud and clear,
To live or to die, just stay in fear.
