Born Free: The Third World Qualm

Rousseau once said that, "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains. Those who think themselves the masters of others are indeed greater slaves than they."

Best part of the whole saga being that, we pick up education but what remains is ever so powerful to blast a whole state into believing that nothing that can be slaved cannot bomb later! And the worst part about this whole thing being here in India is that we are never treated to learn and grow, instead learn and produce. Ever and ever more. So that we actually remain slaves to the entire world for the rest of our lives. We are never trained to read and think. Men of light have stopped to exist in this frugal Indian society. Most of them are led forward by intolerance towards authentic texts because of all that they hear from people around them. The only authenticity that wears its mark is consequent wealth and the social status acquired due to it. What the status is and how it is significant is something left to blasphemy. The ingenuity of knowledge has now turned waste. We are never trained to learn from text books, instead we hear and absorb. The more we absorb into us about wealth, the more we learn to slave ourselves into such riches. Blame it on consumerism and media.

The Modern Indian Society is backed by ideals which have existed since time immemorial. And these ideals can later never be questioned into their minds because what flows in their bloodstream is faith towards the ancient Indian society that is full of dogma - not dogma from then, but the dogma that is now. The stream of reason no longer exists because the seeds of reason are no longer apparent to us. For we do not read from authentic sources or explore the fundamental facts of such arguments. Yet we protrude our senses into believing what appears more fanciful. This is about the society and its customs. And what bothers me all the time is when I questioningly ask myself why I exist amongst such individuals that make a ridicule out of themselves in social situations that call for moral duty based on argument, I have no answers to give to myself. Every single time I ask myself why I exist in this Indian society, I have only one answer to give to myself - I was born amongst 19th century textbooks. The society has progressed, the world is advancing but these textbooks that remain inspirational to the oppressed masses to fetch them accolades have now become an indispensable part of their presence - by the way they behave, talk and act. In one of my recent experiences with someone at work, I learned that Bihar could influence people in more than one way. Apart from the water, electricity and sanitation problems they are faced with, there is also a germ that has spread to other parts of the country with their immigration. That is the caste system - they are free to look one step above in the hierarchy but  never a step below. Which is direct evidence to the fact that Bihar is not only forward thinking now, but also a germinal cause to all social problems that once existed - for with all the forward thinking that comes to them now, comes another set of beliefs - of the primeval 19th century Indian Society about which we once learned only in textbooks to despise. No matter how much we despise such deeds, we have to work amidst such people who are slowly looking to climb the ladder to higher positions in the Indian society. It is only when I work with such people, that I am filled with hatred for myself. With knowledge comes the power to banish evil, and when you find such evil exist within the masses and you're rendered helpless, is when you begin to question the very nature and essence of education leading to knowledge. Education is no longer empowerment, but a free will that is exercised upon us to live on. I step out of home daily to walk into a Bihar is all consolation I can find for myself.

Everyday I go to work and feel the Third World heat blasting me. I move back one step into the past with every step I take forward. Now I realize it's that 'ghost of time' prodding me to slow down, bringing me in tune with reality - and it slowly dawns upon me that it is the ghost we've created within us and for ourselves over the centuries. One day the New World Order shall shine upon us. For the sake of knowledge gained and the knowledge that remains leading us onto light. I really pray India plays the pivot here, for if we don't we're surely heading towards doom. 1947 was not a means to achieve freedom, but only a more prosperous path to beg to exist in the 20th century without the dominion thrust upon us. This time, it's the 'ghost of 1947' that haunts me still.

Material Musings

At a Flower Store As we travel into time, we bead our little moments and they hookup to form a garland that engulfs us completely when time stops, the fragrance continues however. Whether it smells of dry hay or lilac, we render through our Karma. In a Boat on a River Picture yourself in a boat on a river with your beloved, as you hold the oars in your hands. You want to hold her but if you do, you lose control of the oars. What would you do? You don't drown, the waters are still. It's a river afterall. Save a little for yourself. Our passions grow on us, time doesn't. On my Way Back Home Others expect at work, but my home demands. If I were to size down demands, would others' expectations out of me lower equally? We belong to our homes as much as homes belong to us! 10,000 Years: Going Home Alive

Gold, silver and purple streaks of light, Strike my chest and rebound, all so bright, I am traveling home finally, far far away, As I wade across the galaxy called Milky Way. I was once a little piece of dot, A shelter in a cold galactic place I'd sought, Among Neptune, Pluto and Jupiter, I found this Earth, to be the most near. I am done with my worldly duties, Sometimes a son, at other times a sister, At times an angel and rarely a sinister, Today as I am released of my worldly ties, I am no longer indebted to the aborning sunrise. My journey so far has been fruitless, The day I split, I knew I'd become worthless, Somehow I knew I had to live through it all, Tasks they all came, big or small. Still deep down inside, there was loneliness, Although in the world, there was vast openness, In the early stages, I assumed a blacksmith or cobbler, Towards the end, I became a generous struggler. When the time had come to clear off my karma, Since I ha...

My Saddest Tale, Ever So Pale

Every year in the month of March,  I'd bring home, a bagful of books and the scent of familiar starch,  Once I'd masked with plastic sheet, I'd sense my heart beat,  As labels and stickers would summarize my yearly feat.  A burst of energy swiveled across my body,  In a few days, I was to become a scholarly somebody.  Samuel Adams and Christopher Columbus,  They may all wait, with them would Oedipus.  With what I read back then,  I would mostly outperform my peers,  Now as I begin to write, I sit amidst a cesspool of tears. Very soon you will, dear readers if any, Be introduced to a gargantuan globe hinged by many. During later years at crossing vectors and dotting differential equations, My History, Geography and Economics, floated across vesting nations. I drew the world map, this time I was twenty four, Sat with a histogram and outlined to each its own score. That's when I found my country, pleading for ...
