It rained then and it rains today again,
As hailstones surface the metallic roof,
Accelerating mild tremors and subtle crackling noise,
With a difference; then I was devastated,
But today I am filled with promise and poise.
Quashed that hot sultry afternoon sun in June,
As I lay down cross-faced awaiting the moon,
Darkness I longed for, bereft of hope,
My soul appeared as hollow in the mirror as sky,
Since rains washed away the silver lining.
Into the skies I looked that evening,
Higher and beyond my hopes soared,
I dreamt of another sunrise tomorrow,
But the moon would just not let it be,
And I clung to your picture and hollered in sorrow.
The rains as they dance in chorus tonight,
Fill my heartbeats with many a luminescent light,
The passage to you is long gone by,
As memories now select its pavements,
Until you subsist beneath the russet sky.
I'm a traveller in time, I travel along pavements,
The worldly truth will not suffice,
On motorways the races take its toll upon the frantic,
While the pedestrian wears its utility boots,
Seeking the poet anew and unmasking the romantic.
